How long will it take to improve my Spanish language skills?
The time it takes to improve your Spanish skills depends on factors like your starting level, the time you dedicate to practice, and your individual learning pace. Learn Quick Spanish follows the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), which divides language learning into six progressive levels, from A1 to C2.
Here’s a general guide to the time required for each level:
A1 (Beginner): ~60 hours
Can understand and use familiar everyday expressions and very basic phrases aimed at the satisfaction of needs of a concrete type. Can introduce him/herself and others and can ask and answer questions about personal details such as where he/she lives, people h/she knows and things he/she has. Can interact in a simple way provided the other person talks slowly and clearly and is prepared to help.
A2 (Elementary): ~90 hours
Can understand sentences and frequently used expressions related to areas of most immediate relevance (e.g. very basic personal and family information, shopping, local geography, employment). Can communicate in simple and routine tasks requiring a simple and direct exchange of information on familiar and routine matters. Can describe in simple terms aspects of his/her background, immediate environment and matters in areas of immediate need.
B1 (Intermediate): ~120 hours
Can understand the main points of clear standard input on familiar matters regularly encountered in work, school, leisure, etc. Can deal with most situations likely to arise whilst travelling in an area where the language is spoken. Can produce simple connected text on topics which are familiar or of personal interest. Can describe experiences and events, dreams, hopes and ambitions and briefly give reasons and explanations for opinions and plans.
B2 (Upper Intermediate): ~150 hours
Can understand the main ideas of complex text on both concrete and abstract topics, including technical discussions in his/her field of specialization. Can interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity that makes regular interaction with native speakers quite possible without strain for either party. Can produce clear, detailed text on a wide range of subjects and explain a viewpoint on a topical issue giving the advantages and disadvantages of various options.
C1 (Advanced Proficiency): ~180 hours
Can understand a wide range of demanding, longer texts, and recognize implicit meaning. Can express him/herself fluently and spontaneously without much obvious searching for expressions. Can use language flexibly and effectively for social, academic and professional purposes. Can produce clear, well-structured, detailed text on complex subjects, showing controlled use of organizational patterns, connectors and cohesive devices.
C2 (Mastery): ~210 hours
Can understand with ease virtually everything heard or read. Can summarize information from different spoken and written sources, reconstructing arguments and accounts in a coherent presentation. Can express him/herself spontaneously, very fluently and precisely differentiating finer shades of meaning even in more complex situations.
Consistent participation in our sessions and practice outside of class will help you progress efficiently. Additionally, our book, Master Spanish in Half the Time, is designed to accelerate fluency and help you achieve your goals faster.

Meet Your Native Spanish Teacher
I’m so excited to share my passion for the Spanish language with you! Growing up in South America, I was surrounded by the vibrant diversity of cultures, languages, and traditions that shaped my love for communication and connection. This deep appreciation for cultural exchange has fueled my career for over 15 years.
As a native Spanish speaker and an accredited DELE examiner for all levels (A1 through C2), I bring a wealth of expertise to help you succeed. Whether you’re preparing for the prestigious DELE certification or simply looking to master the language, I’ll guide you with the insider knowledge and experience needed to achieve your goals.
My experience extends beyond teaching; I have worked as a community, medical, and legal interpreter for over 10 years. This has given me a profound understanding of real-world communication needs and cultural nuances, which I incorporate into my lessons to make your learning experience practical and impactful.
In addition to teaching, I’m also a published author, with books available in the US, Uruguay and France. Writing allows me to share the beauty and power of Spanish with an even wider audience—a reflection of my dedication to spreading this incredible language around the world.
Beyond language, I have another creative passion: fused and stained-glass art. This artistic endeavor allows me to express myself in a unique way and mirrors my love for bringing colors, cultures, and stories together—much like I do when teaching Spanish.
When you choose to learn Spanish with me, you’re not just taking lessons; you’re embarking on a personalized journey of growth, empowerment, and discovery. Together, we’ll explore not only the language but also the rich cultures and stories that make Spanish so special.
I’m here to support you every step of the way, and I can’t wait to see where this journey takes you.
Un abrazo cordial,
Yanina Toranza-Viera
